Belfast based duo Bicep have said they think established DJs playing plague raves is disgusting. I agree wholeheartedly, and would happily extend that to include anyone who plays at plague raves.

Even the people who run illegal raves for a living are horrified by what they’re doing, as I’ve written about before. Still, it amazes me the number of people who choose not to listen.

Anyway, some good is going to come out of plague raves in the end. The selfish tossers out there who are doing these things are getting exposed out there – despite utterly risible requests from social media loving DJs that clubbers don’t put the footage online – and they’re not going to be forgotten. The only good they’re doing is that their careers will be cut short. And frankly, most of them will not be missed.

That paves the way for a new generation with new ideas to start coming through. Dance music in general is due an absolutely almighty shakeup out of its state of complacency – and I can’t wait to see it happen…
