Isn’t it time that someone said something nice about Soundcloud? Said no one since around 2016. Ever since they decided to start properly enforcing copyright laws on their platform, Soundcloud has become the house music world’s favourite piñata, beaten fervently and with much pleasure.

Well, I think it’s time for some praise. And I think this earns it. Streaming doesn’t work for independents. It’s deliberately been skewed to work for protectionist major labels who are determined to save their own arses in an age when they’re just not needed anymore.

I look forward to seeing how Soundcloud gets on with this model.
