All is not well in the world of Event Entertainment Group, the umbrella company behind Miami’s Ultra Music Festival. The company – which was given a federal loan of $525,200 by the US government last April – is being sued for refusing to give refunds to a number of individuals.

Corwin Law in Boca Raton filed the class action suit at the end of March, seeking damages in excess of $15,000 for a number of clients who purchased tickets to the Ultra Music Festival (UMF) for 2020 – which was, of course, postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The lawsuit claims that UMF refused to issue refunds for their tickets, instead promising unspecified “enhanced benefits” and a free transfer of 2020 tickets over to either the 2021 or 2022 event.

Event Entertainment Group announced back in February that this year’s event would not take place due to the ongoing pandemic.

I’ll be keeping an eye on this one. I’ve always been interested to see what way a court would side when dealing with a company that was allegedly refusing to issue refunds to their customers. My hunch? This could go either way…
