On the week that a woman revealed she keeps a freezer full of pre-prepared meals for her son – who’s only aged 30 – I go through this week’s tunes. And admittedly, this collection isn’t anywhere near as full as that freezer…

Matt Early & Lee Jeffries Feat. Will Bee – Rocketship (Lockdown Grooves)
In a pretty unimpressive week of releases for house music, this one shines out even more than it normally would. Matt Early delivers a traditional soulful take and another where things go in a more jazzy direction – and both do a good job of things. However, this release belongs to Terry Hunter, as far as I’m concerned. He delivers a version which takes something that’s already very good and makes it quite special.

DJ MJ – Move It (Love The Way) (PHXBLK)
We live in an age where most DJs produce their own music. It gives them stuff to play that no one else has, for one reason. It’s also ironic that many of them produce exceptionally dull records. They should move aside, and watch DJ MJ showing them how it’s done. This has a real sense of fun about it.
