Covid-19 is not a joke. And it makes me incredibly angry when people try to trivialise the virus. Yes, you could get it, just feel a bit rubbish for a fortnight and make a complete recovery. But others are nowhere near as lucky – some end up in hospital for a very long time.

Brothers Robert and Stephen Laviniere – otherwise known as British DJ and producer duo Bobby & Steve – had vastly different experiences with this virus. Bobby caught Covid-19 in early March 2020. On March 19th, he was admitted to hospital and put on a ventilator and an induced coma. He remained like that for a week, and got out of hospital on March 31st to complete his recovery.

It speaks volumes about this virus that I can say Bobby was the lucky one. Steve’s story started slightly later. On March 29th, he was admitted to hospital. His symptoms got worse and he was put into an induced coma and on a ventilator – just like had happened to his brother barely a week earlier.

The full story is on the Groove Odyssey Facebook page, but Steve remains in professional care to this day. The virus got into his nervous system and caused a rare brain injury. His family now want to bring him home – but this means significant modifications are required to their house. And these are very expensive to do!

So, this will be taking place on Sunday 3rd October between 2pm and 1am at the Ministry of Sound in London…

Fancy going? Tickets are here. Can’t go? Send some money their way.

You know it makes sense.
