I first came across this song sometime in the summer of 2000. It was a Saturday night, and my 15-year old self was at home, bored and with very little to do. Desperate to find something to take my mind off this, I switched on the radio and heard a show called The Beat was on.

The first song I heard was something quite nondescript, a rather unspectacular remix of “Who The Hell Are You” by Madison Avenue. As it finished, the next track came into the mix – a little bit clunkily, for my taste, but then I heard “M, E, K, O, N” vocals coming in and wondered what on earth this was.

Turned out it was a remix by Junior Cartier of “Women Beat Their Men” fame. And I found it rather catchy…
