Many years ago, I was not having a good day. Frankly, it was one of those days where you wished you hadn’t bothered to get out of bed. Everything that could go wrong did go wrong. A friend noticed that I wasn’t right that day and asked me what happened.

After I told him, he replied with “who pissed on your chips, then?”. Which annoyed me even further at the time, but I digress.

It seems a lot of people are determined to piss on my chips this week. And here’s the latest – the British taxpayer funded Resident Advisor. They’re reporting that Mexico’s death rate from Covid-19 is now one of the highest in the world.

They are indeed correct. At the time of writing, just over 195,000 Mexicans have died with coronavirus. That’s hundreds of thousands of people grieving over the loss of a loved one. It’s a truly terrible toll.

The article is about plague raves that have been taking place in Tulum, quoting that the ever so well known virologist known as Snakeman said…

“he felt safe to perform because he and his DJ partner, Andy Cly, (who is also his son) were already immune to Covid-19, having caught the virus in August last year.”

Hmm. The fact scientists have no consensus on how long your immunity to coronavirus lasts after recovering from it blows a big hole in that argument.

Anyway, at the end of the article, here’s the bit that really got me angry. It’s a disclosure which they claim is full…

“Resident Advisor has ticketed a small number of events in Mexico during this period, including events run by Rossé. Our worldwide policy is to only ticket events that adhere to local COVID-19 safety guidance and laws. During the pandemic our Tickets team introduced protocols to monitor all ticket submissions and reject those that are illegal, or where the promoter was unable to provide info on their safety guidelines when directly requested by our Account Management team. As a result of this reporting, RA is suspending the ticketing of all events in Mexico, whether permitted by the local government or not, while we review the situation further.“

Now that’s not quite a full statement, is it? There are a few things that are not written here. Allow me, as one of the aforementioned British taxpayers who bailed you out, to assist…

“Resident Advisor has made a shitload of money out of selling tickets to plague raves in Mexico. This is why we haven’t bothered to report on plague raves properly, and why details about DJs who perform at such are never featured on our website. That, and we’re completely fucking broke, so need to get the money from wherever we think we can get away with it. And we’re not sorry for doing it, just for being caught.”
